Mr. Jonathan Quezalez
I'm a California native deeply tied to the Bay Area. I was born in Redwood City and grew up in East Palo Alto, I currently reside in Hayward. My local roots guided my education – I earned my associate's degree in Psychology and Justice Studies from Ohlone College. At San Jose State, I continued studying both fields, and a unique opportunity led me to a Master's in Education from Notre Dame de Namur University. Since 2019, I've been committed to high school teaching. My Guatemalan heritage broadened my global outlook and helped fuel my world travels. Beyond exploring abroad, I find peace in local bike rides, camping, and mixed martial arts. I am recently married and my feline companion Lilo keeps me company, though I'm partial to dogs. Supporting students since 2009, I've embraced diverse roles, always valuing teamwork and growth. This journey brought me to Redwood High School in 2022. Pursuing higher education later in life, I champion perpetual learning, resilience, and inclusive education for all learners, no matter where they're encountered.
College Readiness
This course invites students to explore college as one of their post-secondary options. In this class, students will learn terminology and concepts to better prepare them for the otherwise foreign-seeming world of college, and they will explore the many opportunities available to them in a college environment, including specialized classes and programs to help them succeed once they're there. Among other things, they will learn how to navigate relevant websites to find the information they need, develop a practice community college schedule, and familiarize themselves with the wide variety of majors and degrees available at different post-secondary institutions.
